Ka’ana

Ka’ana is a lovely resort that was founded by the brothers Ronan and Colin Hannan in 2007 as a tribute to the rich heritage and natural beauty of Central American country Belize. The resort is located in Belize’s western Cayo district and offers personalized service and modern design that respects the country’s culturally rich past. Located closely to areas where the ancient Maya civilization resided and surrounded by marvelous jungles, Ka’ana’s tour excursions for exploration of the beautiful country are completely altered to the visitors’ wishes to ensure an exclusive and most likely overwhelming experience.

The 17 units the resort offers consist of three types of lodging: the 350 sq. ft. Balam rooms, the 400 sq. ft. Casita suites and the impressive 700 sq. ft. exclusive Master suite. All the units have private front and back patios and spacious bathrooms. One can even hear the waterfall that borders the infinity pool, and it’s only a 30-second walk to the resort’s petite spa. The resort’s restaurant, La Ceiba, serves dishes made with local ingredients, including vegetables from the on-site organic garden.

In order to further introduce the still quite unknown western Cayo district and other areas of Belize, the Hannan brothers have developed an online interactive map which let’s the user explore Ka’ana and it’s surrounding, providing a future visitor with some serious anticipatory pleasure. The site is a single-page with three different maps; World, Region, and Resort. In the World section, flight paths and times are displayed based on which city the user clicks. The Region and Resort sections both allow the user to explore different areas of the country and surrounding the resort by clicking points on the map that pop up sliding image galleries. The interactive map has been art-directed by Amy Weibel and originally developed by PixelCrayons.
