At this moment I'm on my way to Toronto to celebrate the 175th birthday of Holt Renfrew. A few month back they asked me to create a special design for their Hot@175 Mobile Tour, a cross-country, travelling pop-up shop that will sell exclusively designed, limited edition sweatshirts in celebration of 175 years of style. Six designers from all over the world were asked to join and I was honored to be one of them.

The piece I made was inspired on an old Hold Renfrew brochure cover from 1940. We see a beautiful lady in a fur coat, and just between the word 'Furs' and 'Fourrures' is this sweet little icon of a small animal. It was very subtile, and probably no one really mentioned it since it was very illustrative and the full attentions was drawn by the beautiful lady, but it was there. That little animal was the inspiration mixed with the roman numerals 175 and two little minks hidden in the illustration. [ Continue reading ]

The first Curated gift I made was send out this week. A first gift, dedicated to my love to travel. The love for the unknown, of putting everything together you can't mis and hit the road. Whether it's from Utrecht to Amsterdam or Amsterdam to London, Los Angeles or Lisbon.
The only thing with traveling is that it doesn't go really well with my need for structure. In a bag, or a suitcase, things move around, because you have to open up your luggage at the customs, or need that one particular item at the bottom of your suitcase and everything will move upside-down. A few weeks back I was fortunate enough to meet Camille Henfling, the founding father of Von Eusersdorff, for a special project we're working on. I've known the Von Eusersdorff fragrances for some time now, but didn't know the story behind it. After a vividly told introduction by Mr Henfling I instantly fell in love with this small perfume company with its strong historical roots in the world-trade of rare oils, herbs and spices. With the memory of the warehouses of the apothecary of his grandfather, filled with a heavily scented atmosphere of classic scents like patchouli, Mr Henfling decided to start a new business honoring his family heritage, and Von Eusersdorff was born.
