Barbour x Norton & Sons
The collaboration between outdoor wear brand Barbour and Savile Row tailors, Norton & Sons is one of the highest standards. For the first time these two institutions have come together to create a beautiful menswear collection for Autumn/Winter 2013. Both brands pride themselves on their British heritage and have continued in this vein by choosing high quality cloth sourced from the UK. The emphasis in this new collection is on longevity. Both Norton & Sons, with their focus on artisanal tailoring and Barbour, famous for its well-made durable clothing, are keen to stress that their new collection is built to last. The main goal with this new collection was to produce a range of items which would be as good as they are now, if not better, in fifty years’ time.
Norton & Sons is synonymous with high quality bespoke tailoring and exquisite design, a quality which they have brought in spades to this new collaboration. The City-tailors first set up shop in London in 1821 as a gentleman’s outfitters, before moving to Savile Row, the home of tailoring, in the 1860s. Since then, Norton & Sons have created outfits for many members of royalty across the world, as well as clothing three US presidents.
Barbour has its heritage in industrial clothing design. Although nowadays, Barbour is typically associated with high-end outerwear, the brand, based in South Shields in the North East of England, started out making clothes for working men in the fishing communities of Northumbria. Carefully crafted to withstand the inevitable wear and tear of manual labour in all weathers. From the Barbour Beacon Heritage Collection to the Military and Country Collection, Barbour’s collection has a focus on active, utility chic.
We love the strength of this excellent collaboration between these two British names with a great heritage.
