Sometimes I come across brands, creatives and products wich inspires me more than others. It comes from the love of quality and detailing in products, beautiful and unique brand stories and for creatives, their fresh view on the world. And since the blog posts are always just a tiny text plus one image, I’m going to do a special feature now and then.
To start with Pablo Delfos, the Dutch photographer represented by my friend Manja Otten. In his fashion focused photographs he’s a master with light, adding emotion, telling beautiful stories sometimes in only one image.
For anothersomething he made a new selection of my favourite series, the thaiboxing in Bangkok. Enjoy the story and images after the click.
Lumpinee stadium Bangkok, it’s a magical place! I was there to shoot one fashion picture for a dutch magazine. As soon as I walked in to the stadium, it totally took me over. The smell, the heat but most of all the people, so intens. It felt like an Ali fight in the 70’s. Every fight (even if it was a none title fight or low ranked) was heroic in the eyes of the audience.
The boxing its self for me was not that interesting to photograph, it was more the social aspect that I wanted to capture. I would love to go back sometime and visit a thaiboxingschool in Bangkok to do another story about thaiboxing. Just capture the beauty of things.
Whether it’s fashion or every day life, I always try to capture the beauty of my subjects. Although I contribute to high fashion magazines every month, I see myself a as photographer rather than a fashion-photographer. The character of a model or subject inspires me to photograph in a storytelling way. No matter what I choose to focus my lens on, emotions play the leading part in my images.
