H. Lorenzo by Topsy Design
This beautiful H. Lorenzo retail space in Los Angeles was designed by Jared Frank. Frank, who up to this point had mostly worked as a production designer and residential decorator, made some pleasing aesthetic choices creating a fitting environment for the fashion sold at the store. When Lorenzo Hadar purchased the building next to his men’s store in West Hollywood he wanted to turn the ground floor into an annex that could function as a stand alone shop. A place to try out new clothes, ideas, and designers before committing to carrying them at his other locations in Los Angeles.
Lorenzo and Frank wanted to maintain the aesthetic of H. Lorenzo, but still give the store, with it’s particular purpose of selling new brands, a stand-out quality. Beside the retail space Hadar wanted an upstairs client lounge, where he could entertain clients and meet with peers over sake or espresso. On the retail area Frank states:
The room is tall and narrow and I decided to use its height to my advantage. To give it a sense of vastness I painted it stark white and then separated the walls from the ceiling with a string of fluorescents along the top left corner. Those lights are reflected in a full-length horizontal mirror that runs above eye level. And they are paralleled by another string of lights that are mounted underneath a raised white walkway.
The new H.Lorenzo space is located at 8648 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, opened everyday 10:00 – 19:00. For more information see here.
