citizenM Bankside

During our recent visit to London we stayed at the on July the 4th opened citizenM Bankside hotel. A choice that wasn’t made in vain. The hotel, part of the Dutch citizenM chain, houses on 20 Lavington Street in Southwark and offers 192 tastefully designed and furnished rooms. When approaching the front of the hotel the words Another World is Possible greet the visitor from above the entrance, and almost feels like a personal welcome.

CitizenM founders Michael Levie and Rattan Chadha envisioned a new kind of traveller feeling most comfortable at their hotels: the mobile citizen. Levie and Chadha saw the mobile citizen moving much quicker than other kinds of travelers, but at the same time having as high demands when it comes to technology and the aesthetics delivered by a hotel. Beside the hotel offering everything the mobile citizen needs, he or she should also be able to easily move through the city from the hotel. And lastly the mobile traveller has numerous ways to travel affordable these days, but always maintains it’s high standard, so affordability of the offered luxury is key.

The citizenM concept is wonderfully executed at the Bankside hotel. We had a great experience with the super friendly staff and really enjoyed it’s great location just behind the Tate Modern. As we recognize ourselves in the idea of the mobile citizen we truly enjoyed the Bankside, truly delivering everything a mobile citizen could wish for. A minor detail is that the mobile citizen – in citizenM’s opinion – doesn’t travel with kids. I believe they already do (as I am) and would love to get just a slightly bigger room with some extra’s for the little one’s as well. Beside this minor detail we can only hope that citizenM will open more hotels in the future to continue to cater to all the needs of the mobile citizens worldwide.

Stay tuned for their new CitizenMag, with a little addition by yours truly, for more information and to book a room at the CitizenM Bankside see here.
