190 steps

‘To witness the step-by-step process by which a pair of John Lobb shoes comes to life at its Northampton workshop is to see traditional craftsmanship and genuine skill in action.’ This lovely short clip produced by John Lobb highlighting the manufacturing steps each shoe goes through within their Northampton factory.
190 steps starting with the full-grain leather in the Clicking Room, to the sewing and decorating in the Prep Room and onto the Closing Room where all the various elements of the upper are brought together. Then to the Assembly and Lasting Room, the Making Room, the Finising Room where the finer artisanal elements are added to end in the Shoe Room for the finishing touch. And there they are, a pair of the finest men’s shoes, hand made in England by John Lobb.
