CITIx60 Los Angeles, Amsterdam & Hong Kong
Last November we wrote about the beautiful Art Print Project, which was presented to celebrate the first CITIx60 travel guides by inspirational Hong Kong-based publisher viction:ary and mentioned more guides coming up. Some months later the first new additions are here, with Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Amsterdam being added to the growing catalogue of guides. We were honored to be one of the people to share a favorite for the Amsterdam guide, next to the fact that Tenue de Nîmes has also been mentioned by 100% Halal filmproducer Gijs Determeijer. The aim viction:ary has with their CITIx60 guides is to present a list of handpicked hotspots that illustrate the spirit of the world’s most interesting design hubs. Built on a unique collaboration with local talents all known for their accomplishments from film making, food, advertising to design, the pocket-sized guides are packed with artistic twists and practical info essential for a satisfying trip – presented in playfully designed and illustrated guides.
Whether it’s a one-day stopover or a longer trip, first-time visitors or seasoned travellers, each CITIx60 guide points you to 60 hangouts, covering architecture, art spaces, shops and markets, eating and entertainment — the best places that only passionate insiders know and go.
Like the other inspirational projects initiated and edited by viction:ary, CITIx60 are here to be your inspirational guide, in the broadest meaning of the word. Each of the travel guides is jacketed with a city map drawn by talented artists, with Los Angeles’ drawn by Josh Evans, Hong Kong’s drawn by Vivian Ho, and Amsterdam by the very talented Stefan Glerum. Next to these key illustrations the guides also feature amusing illustrations by Guillaume Kashima also known as Funny Fun portraying what’s special in town.
viction:ary specializes in visual arts and design, and connect visions and inspirations from the West and the East. With focuses on graphic design, illustrations, fashion, architecture, product design and contemporary art projects, their radar observes global designs that essentially present strong, original concepts and graphical approaches. Through creative collaborations and innovations in publishing, viction:ary aims to explore what’s up and who’s next in the creative realm and propose multidimensional angles to rethink and review design.
