Cy-collage

‘Cy-collage’ was the great pop up exhibition by the London-based collective Colectivo Futuro during last Spin London. Housed inside the iconic Old Truman Brewery building on Brick Lane, the exhibition featured works from both International and local, London-based, artists, most of which had been previously featured in the inspirational colectivo futurist series on their online platform. Each artist was commissioned to interpret cycling through the use of collage as a technique. In the eyes of Colectivo Futuro, like the act of cycling, a collage piece is made up of carefully assembled parts that harmoniously fit together to achieve their purpose, which resulted in beautiful raw works with a somewhat punk aesthetic. The unique and limited pieces by the artists are from now on for sale through Colectivo Futuro’s webstore.

Among the artists are previous colectivo futurist interviewees Emily Evans, Kaoru Saotu aka K+, and Nick Higgin. Originally from Spain, but now residing in London, Maria de la O Garrido and Pablo L. Bueno aka Doppel Loup have also contributed with beautiful handmade collages. Another London resident, James Dawe turned in a couple of pieces in his characteristic “blurred universe” style. While close friend and collaborator of Colectivo Futuro, Takafumi Miki also created a piece. International submissions include pieces from Chicago’s Chad Kouri, Mexico DF’s Natural Values, and New York via Vigo’s Kike Besada.

Colectivo Futuro is a dedicated cultural node where art forms and people converge. Formed by a collective of artists, DJs, musicians, and to put it simply people who have an appreciation for various artistic mediums and a given lifestyle associated with creative enterprises; they are committed to showcasing and collaborating with individuals and brands that we feel carry a passionate approach and a common aesthetic. The aim is to bring exposure to the work of creatives from all parts, whether visual or audible, who are devoted to innovating their medium, or bringing a new light on the traditional. The collective has as of now curated several parties and exhibitions in London, New York, Miami and Madrid.
