The good things in life still exist. I mention them before, but they keep surprising me! Manufactum, the german (online)shop, brings a Oak Tool Chest.

‘It started life in the USA as a humble ‘journeyman chest’, and was given its present more sophisticated form, with the large variety of divided drawers, by the firm of Gerstner & Sons in Dayton, Ohio, over a hundred years ago – hence the name ‘Gerstner® chests’! Other innovations included the upright drawer in the middle to hold the dreaded ‘machinist’s bible’, as it was called: the official American mechanic’s handbook, vintage 1914. Later, in the 1930s, oak came to be used for the manufacture of these chests. Gerstner’s motto was: “a place for everything and everything in its place”…’
